By taking part in National Schools’ Fire Safety Week, and talking to the children you care for about fire safety, they will learn valuable messages that might one day save their lives.
Teach your children the following rules:
- Matches and lighters are tools for grown ups and should NEVER be played with.
- If you see matches and/or lighters lying around, always tell a grown up!
- Matches and lighters are very dangerous: they can burn you and cause a fire.
- Fire spreads very quickly and gets out of control.
- If someone tries to persuade you to play with matches or lighters, you should always say NO!
To reinforce these messages, there are lots of fun activities and games that you can play with your children to get them thinking about fire safety.
